The staff were amazing, very friendly and accommodating. The food quality and portion sizes were excellent. Although a little expensive, however appreciate it’s aimed at tourists.

Ambleside is a good location. We enjoyed Rydal Mount, a boat cruise and a visit to the waterfall.
The public transport network is great, not taking the car was not a problem. We travelled on the bus between Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside with ease.
I will definitely visit again, but next time I will research more of the local walks. There is loads to see, but I would like to know where I was heading and where to walk!

We selected Ambleside as it is central for touring the Lake District. It is a pleasant Town with plenty of shops & restaurants. It also has the biggest garden centre I can ever remeber being in. It was pretty busy even outside of a public or school holiday time so booking restaurants is usually necessary.

It was our first visit to Ambleside and we weren’t disappointed. We had a meal at Luigi’s which was amazing. The staff were very friendly and I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I am a fussy eater.
The weather was glorious so we had a few drinks in the beer garden at the Royal Oak pub.
Ambleside was about a 15minute walk from our accommodation, Windermere Rooms at the Wateredge Inn.

A very busy place even though it was not peak season.
A very busy place even though it was not peak season.
We stayed across the lake from Ambleside and it was much quieter and prettier.
Be prepared to pay for parking and toilet access in all public areas in the Lake District and only a credit card is acceptable for payment.
The hotel met all our needs and we would definitely return. The room size was great and the views were as described for the type of booking. Breakfast and our evening meal were very good. All staff were polite and friendly. The waiter for our Sunday evening meal seemed new to the hotel but his service, attention to our needs and general engagement with us was first class. We booked the hotel as it was dog friendly but the venue is equally good whether you have a pet or not.
Don't really leave reviews but I think the briery deserved one. We were greeted by gentleman on the front desk who was very welcoming from the get go. Nice quiet little bar where the bartender was very helpful regarding food arrangements as we had our dog with us, regarding the dog friendly hotel they do so much more...they accommodate for the dogs with a welcome bag and even arranged dining in the bar area so you're dog could come along. Great stay!
The room was larger than we expected and exceptionally clean. The continental breakfast was excellent with a huge choice of fruit and a good choice of other food. The staff were welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Our room overlooked the park opposite the hotel and had views of the mountains beyond. The hotel has an excellent location near the centre of Ambleside.
Like everywhere in the Lake District, the Wateredge seems to be having issues with staff. However, the staff there were all really friendly and worked incredibly hard. The hotel and location were perfect. We plan to return to Wateredge in the near future. Thanks, for a lovely stay.
Also, we took our dog and it was very dog friendly.
It is on the edge of Ambleside so out of the bustle and noise somewhat, but still in easy walking distance to shops. Breakfast is ample, with lots of choices. The house is a lovely older building, with views over fields of grazing sheep. Rooms were comfortable, with tea making facilities. The owners are friendly and helpful.
The hotel is in a great position and you could be lucky and get a great view. Our room was a little compact and at the back but we could see the hills behind the hotel. I hadn't realised it was dog friendly, and would not have booked if i had, however the dogs were not allowed in the dining room which was a relief.
Fantastic location, lovely and clean hotel (including room), lovely decorations. We went for Christmas, very festive and not to forget the yummy breakfast which was included. We have told our family to visit and we will be back. Our pooch also loved the yummy treats they sell at the bar.
Spacious and clean. Very light. Good kitchen area and lovely bathrooms. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. Good bedding and towels. Comfortable sofas with lots of cushions. Great location near to the centre of Ambleside with parking.
This is a beautiful hotel of a high standard. Stunning throughout. Staff friendly and food great. Spa is so good. My wife had an amazing full body massage and we both spent time in the spa are with pool and jacuzzis etc. so good.
The location was excellent. Walking distance to all the attractions and bus stops in Ambleside. Plus walking distance to all the restaurants and shops.
The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked.
Easy to find. Great location with parking. Good to walk into Ambleside for restaurants in the evening. Great starting point for exploring the area. Very clean and everything you would need available!
The room was fantastic and the staff really helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay again at the Ambleside Inn and will recommend it to family and friends. Loved my stay
Fantastic central location to Ambleside. Lots of local walks on the doorstep. The room was stunning, would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!
